Altered Shadow Box (DT Project for SaCrafters.com)

I wanted to create a small shadow box to go with a couple of canvases, so there would be lovely trio for a wall hanging display. I went with a guitar shaped shadow box, as this project is personalized with a senior photo of my niece and she plays every kind of instrument under the sun, but her favorite is the bass guitar. I used tons of Wild Orchid Craft, Prima, and Petaloo flowers. I used a few Prima embellishments, such as the Prima lightbulb, the clock face and clock hands. The wooden embellishments such as the lamp, music note, skeleton clock, street sign, 'Love' word and mini wings all came from SaCrafters.com. I used Recollections paper called Portobello Road, purchased at Micheals Craft Stores. I used Lindys Stamp Gang shimmer spray in Whale Watch Blue and Tim Holtz White Picket Fence Stain for the top of the guitar.  Here's the pics!

Shabby Chic Altered Wooden Piano (DT Project for SaCrafters)

I could not pass up the chance to altered this 3D Wooden Piano from SaCrafters.com. It comes ready to assemble and is very easy to do so. There is a lot of detail to what I've created, so for this particular project, I'm going to let the pictures do the talking! I will mention that  I used several wooden products from SaCrafters store....from the wooden music notes, to the wood words/sentiments, hot air balloon, wood scroll and wood "xo"! For the paper lines, I used Prima Romance Novel, Prima Time Travelers Memories and a sheet of FabScraps! The resin and metal embellishments all come from Prima as well as some of the flowers. The rest of the flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts.
I hope you might make one of these for your self! Here are the photos:

Mixed Media Canvas (DT project for ReneaBouquets)

I decided, this time around, to create a mixed media canvas using one of my favorite photos of my niece, Sydnie. I wanted the canvas décor to reflect the quiet, beautiful soul that is at home in my niece.  I chose a soft blue pallet with accents of cream and white. For texture on the canvas, I used a medium from Golden called Fiber Paste and a texture paint that I purchased from Michael's Craft Store. The fiber paste basically looks like the paste that is developed when you are trying to make your own paper. its a really soft, cool look. I used a pallet knife and just used soft stokes laying it down onto the canvas. its overall look is thick and thin in areas which is what I was going for. I did the same with the texture paint. I used several clocks on the canvas to represent her journey through time and all that life has to offer. I used several products by Prima as well as several wood products from Sacrafters.com and the wonderful goodies from Reneabouquets store rounds out the process. I chose to frame the photo with Prima resin window shutters to draw your eye to that area of the canvas and all the other elements fall into place underneath and gently sweeping to the left side, trailing off and letting your eye rest. I hope you enjoy the photos and the Youtube video which shows my entire process of creating this canvas from start to finish!

Shabby Chic Home Decor (DT Project for Renea Bouquets)

I wanted to create a piece of home décor featuring one of my favorite love poems of all time by ee cummings, "I Carry Your Heart". Its a meaningful poem featuring all the love and romance of one human being to another and it touches my heart, so I wanted to include the poem displayed onto a heart shape flying on the "wings" of romance! I used the Prima collection, Stationers Desk, for this project which includes the matching flowers to the collection. I also used some other great Prima Resin and metal pieces, a chipboard brick wall a wood sentiment, Tim Holtz Ranger texture paste & Gypsies metal gear and topped it all off with a beautiful ReneaBouquet handmade butterfly. I think this butterfly is my fav! Most of the Prima pieces came from Renea's store, so be sure to check out what she has in stock for your papercrafting/art needs! I printed the poem onto an inkjet transparency before sewing it to the Prima paper so that the beautiful design of the paper would show through. I added acrylic paint mixed with sand for texture all over the embellishments and plaque. Here are the pics!

Shabby Chic Card and Gift Box

I created this shabby chic card and matching gift box for a birthday present for a dear sweet friend! I didn't have a lot of money to spend, so why not hand make something just as special! I used the  Graphic 45 paper collection, Botanical Tea. One of my favs! The beauty of the shabby chic colors for this project were perfect! For the card I started with a blank corrugated card base from Micheals. For the outside of the gift box, I used some premade chipboard pieces from my supply and traced their shapes to give me the design for the box. For the inside of the box, I just made a basic pattern of my own and folded it into a rectangular box shape to hold the present. The earrings were made by my sister-in-law. I saw this cute picture from Pinterest for gift wrapping ideas and that's how I came up with the idea of putting earrings inside a cute corked jar....cuz somebody else thought of it first! LOL! ...but I did add a tiny flower and bow. Here's the pics:

Mixed Media Wall Decor (DT Project for ReneaBouquets)

This is a design team project for ReneaBouquets!  I turned a premade wood slat board that I purchased from a local scrapbook store into a wall décor piece featuring a favorite wedding photo of mine! I used Marion Smith's new collection, Romance Chapter 2 as well as some ephemera pieces from Tim Holtz and Pink Paislee. I printed my picture onto an inkjet transparency and added it on top of some of the beautiful paper so that the design of the paper shines through the transparency. I love doing this effect! I distressed all the edges of the beautiful papers with the Prima Distress tool and then ran each piece through my sewing machine. I added tons of Prima, Petaloo and Wild Orchid Craft flowers in colors of blues, pinks, greens and creams. I layered tons of yummy embellishments by Prima, a pair of Melissa Frances Resin Wings, some favorite wood pieces/quotes, added tons of texture using Ranger Texture Paste and Liquitex Glass Bead texture gel. I added additional color using Prima Color Bloom Sprays in Cotton Candy and Tea Stain. You can find the Prima Color Bloom sprays at Renea's shop, as well as the Ranger Texture Paste, Prima Resin Birds,  Prima Resin Frames, Crochet Lace in a natural color, and the Tiny Treasures Pink Bubblegum Butterflies.  Here's the pics, followed by the YT vid, which is a start to finish process since there is too much to explain in detail with just words! Enjoy!

Altered Book/Clock

Here is another design team project for The Piece By Piece!! I used beautiful laces, resin pieces, candy gems and a chipboard hot air balloon from the shop. They added the perfect touch!  This time around I decided to pull out one of my many favorite paper lines (LOL) to work with...Marion Smith's Mad Tea Party. I also wanted this piece to be whimsical and fun, but still have a function.....so I added a working clock! How I had to add the clock and how the clock battery mechanism is hidden in the book is a little difficult to explain, so you'll have to watch the YouTube video to get an explanation that you can see! I have to say, I love how I used a tiny little spoon charm that I bent into a "handle" to open the book with to gain access the clock! I just thank that's cute!  I did tons of layering with the products, because I wanted the elements to "pop" off the page, so to speak....as if you are reading a good story and the words pop off the page!! To add more texture to the piece, I used a product by Liquitex called Glass Bead texture gel! I love it! Tiny little glass beads in a gel that turns transparent after it dries....super fun to use! Here's the pics!!

Vintage Romance Altered Bookstack

So for this design team project for ReneaBouquets, I decided to alter a bookstack! It was on my "to-do" list of projects I have been wanting to make! I had so much fun using the beautiful products from Renea's shop! I was lucky to be able to use her handmade flowers, handmade butterflies, Diecut chipboard pieces (flourishes) and the new Ranger Texture Paste! Renea carries tons of mixed media products in her store! Anything you could want for your project! I also have to mention, that I didn't have the right color butterflies in my stash for my project so I decided to try using some Lindy's Stamp Gang shimmer spray on it....ant it worked beautifully! The ink on the butterflies didn't run or smear and held up well to the moisture of the spray! Renea revealed to me that she uses a Professional Epson Ultrachrome K3 ink which makes her handmade products hold up well to smudges or scratches and makes them easily mixed media proof!! Now that is my kind of product! Besides products from Renea's shop, I used a few Prima paper lines for this. I pulled out Romance Novel, Cartographer, Stationer's Desk, and Time Travelers Memories. I also used many of the embellishments associated with those lines as well as other yummy Prima products and Wild Orchid Craft flowers. I made the books from scratch using my own medium weight chipboard for the outer portion of the book and Tim Holtz grungeboard for the spine since its so flexible! I distressed the edges of all the papers with the Prima distress tool and also sewed the papers with my sewing machine! I can't seem to do any of my projects without doing the distressing or sewing and I certainly can't complete my projects without adding texture to all my embellishments! I used acrylic paint mixed with sand to add the texture to the flowers and embellishments. I also used this over all the areas where I used Prima and The Crafters Workshop stencils. I think adding the soft paint mixture over the stencils brings out the dimension of the stencils! The Ranger texture paste from Renea's shop created such fine, sharp imaging....I love this stuff! Try it, you'll love it too! Here's the pics:

Shabby Chic Mini Album

This is a design team project for The Piece by Piece!  I was lucky to have received some beautiful laces, resin pieces, metal embellishments and the so pretty Prima Epiphany paper collection to work with! I added tons of layers and each page has a lace pocket stuffed with tags from the collection, as well as other Prima collection and even wooden tags by Prima!  I've also added a tiny configuration box using the packing that the wooden charms came in from the Epiphany collection. I made a few magnetic pages as well! the album was made from scratch using chipboard. it got a little bulky adding all the pretty elements that I had to make a clip to hold it closed! I added tons of texture by using acrylic paint mixed with sand on top of all the embellishments. I even used the Prima distress tool and distressed all the papers in the collection and added a shabby chic touch by sewing every single paper/tag as well! There is soooo much to see that the pictures will do it more justice that I can with words, so enjoy! There is also a link to the YT video to hear about more details!
