DT Entry for ThePieceByPiece Etsy Store...

Here's a card and a decorated bird cage I've done for an entry to a Design Team!  Really hoping to get on the team!

I adore these wings! The key is from Micheals--their new Momenta line of metal embellishments.
The 'rod'  next to the flowers, that the paper is folded around (this is where I will jot down my notes to the person this card goes to) is also from the Momenta line at Micheals.
The card opens like a book and the main frame of the card is 2 thin canvas boards.  I have painted the boards and added texture paint.  The paper used on the card is mainly Prima Romance Novel and some Melissa Frances Attic Treasures. I used vintage laces and doilys and as my usual style is...I have used mulitple layers of papers that are all sewn around each piece, distressed with the Tim Holtz paper distresser and also used Gesso to white wash the papers!  This has to be one of my favorite cards! I also used Wild Orchid Crafts and I Am Roses flowers.

...OK...onto the birdcage...
I purchased this cage in the wedding section of Walmart...

This spray of flowers consists of a handmade flower from me and several other sources of paper flowers.  Added a stick pin with a hanging key charm and a butterfly! Also added a pretty bead spray at the top of the arrangement. and some handmade clay flowers of my own at the bottom right corner.
The sign started out as a blank piece of wood.  I wanted it to say "The Flower Shop" in french so I used a translator on line, copy and pasted the french translation to my  Publisher program and then changed the font.  I printed that onto a piece of Pink Paislee London Market paper (my very favorite piece of paper), then sewed around the edges with my sewing machine, distressed the edges with the Tim Holtz distress tool and glued that to the wood.  I punched holes in the wood with my Big Bite Cropadyle tool and added the white curly wire.  Then, of course, added texture paint!  Loving the texture on my projects right now!

The top bow is sheer ribbon (2 inch wide) from Joanns. I used my sewing machine at the right and left edge of the entire ribbon (about 3 feet long) and then pulled on the excess thread at the end of the ribbon to make it crinkle.  Then added some vintage looking lace, a few flowers and a cute "love" charm.
Inside the bird cage, there is an entire "shop" of handmade lacey and fabric flowers...about 40+ of them.   This cute bird cage also goes to the recipient of the card!  Hope she likes them!
...AND I hope that I make this DT!  The link to the etsyshop (where there is a ton of yummy laces and trims and such) is listed at the right hand side of my blog...ThePieceByPiece!
Thanks for stopping by! Big Hugs!

I "heart" U

Here's some of my very favorite decorative letters I've done. These were made for a special someone!

The paper used on these letters is G45 A ladies Diary.  I'm not used to using such light colors, but these colors fit this wonderful person's home decor in her scrapbook room!  I made the wings by drawing them freehand. I used a cavas type fabric with a doily on top.  I frayed the edges of the wings with some scissors. I also used chipboard insde the wings to make them sturdy. The wings are stapled to the back of the letters with industrial strength staples.  I did stamping with embossing.  Added lots of flowers, charms, vintage poetry paper, Tim Holtz products and even some chicken wire!  Used texture paint to a lot of the edges and you can really see the texture on the chicken wire. The letters are purchased from Joanns (or Micheals?) and the heart frame comes from Walmart.  All the paper has been sewn around the edges with my sewing machine and distressed with the Tim Holtz distressing tool!

My First Project Pics!!

Okey dokey! Here they are! Bare with me, cuz I'm not the best "up close" photo taker. If it's blurry...nothing is wrong with your eyesight! LOL! I probably won't have lots of close-up pics ofevery nook and cranny, cuz I think that's just too much, unless that's what you would like to see, but when I look at blogs, I like to just look at the picture as a whole.  I will feature some close-ups here and there-- but not a lot.  If you do like lots of close-ups...I can change my view to suit yours!! ...just let me know!

These are some pics of treasures I made for a swap...
This is a mini album I made...well...it's about 9x9! the first 3 "pages" are halfies...like you see on this first pic.. about 4 1/2 x9 each side...the very last page is whole...at the 9x9 size!

These are pics of the cover of the album...as you can see.  I LOVE the handles!  There's a lot of texture, a lot of layering of papers, (I love to layer papers) I distressed all the edges of each paper and used my sewing maching around every square inch of  each piece of paper AND used lots of gesso to white-wash the papers and flowers to make it soft looking.  My intention for this mini was a shabby-chic romance look! I used flowers from I Am Roses, SaCrafters (zibbett store), and Wild Orchid Crafts. Some flowers are from my local antique mall.

OK..next set...

The first pic is shows what happens when you open the book...it opens to a 4 page spread. Almost every page has a pocket for pictures or journaling!  I used lots of lace!  The paper line is mosty Prima romance novel, with some Melissa Frances attic treasures, G45 ladies Diary, Prima tea thyme, Color Bok victorian parlor, and 1 sheet of Canvas Corp 'love' paper! The word hope and the other 2 words are worden words I bought at Joann's! I texture on them, and stamped with a script stamp on them as well!  Here's the next set:  I LOVE that vintage pic!!

Last page!

I made the wings from a mold that I took of Kaisercraft wood wings!  Added german glass glitter, and texture! Ohhh...used masks with modeling paste, then stamped over it with a script stamp on most of the pages as well.  The word "dream" is supspend from white chain near the bottom fo the page.  Thought that was a fun touch!  Ok.....whatcha think?
If this wasnt enough for you to look at... My next post will be some decorated letters...the letters are my favorite letters I've ever done!  And then....I will post a card and project I am submitting for entry to a design team!  Lotsa hugs to ya and thanx for looking around!  Leave a comment and let me know what you think! Bye for now!

Hey! Your Here!

So, I imagine this is your first time here...mine too!! I totally appreciate you stopping by and hanging out with me!! This is my first blog--EVER!!  I think I'm the last person on the planet to join in this endeavor and I have a lot to learn!! I still need help with a few designing issues, but what up??  I will deal with that later!  Or pay someone to make it pretty!!  Yep!  paying someone sounds like a fantastic idea!! I'm actually pretty good with computers, but I can't seem to find all the buttons I want to make this thing light up like the broadway strip of NY City!! So in all sincerity of honesty...I don't know how to add a few of my whereabouts yet, such as my youtube channel or blinkies, etc...but hey!! I'm here aren't I??? Thanx for taking a chance with me and listening to my humor and checking out some projects.  I hope you will like what you see and that all my projects inspire you to whip out some scissors, paper, glue and whatever else you like to make some art with!! Stick around or check back often...I think I might be around for awhile!

P.S.
.....and no!  My name isn't "fayth"! I just like the "artsy" avenue of spelling out my faith in God and how he "designed" me to "design" art!!  Thus..."Fayth by design" is now center stage!   I know, right!!!

Biggggg Hugz!!
