A Place In Time-DT project for The Piece by Piece

This month I decided to alter a bird feeder. I saw this bird feeder in a local store and new that I could do something cool with it! I wanted to turn it into a little bird "house".  Since it only opened from the top by lifting the lid off, I decided to use some wire cutters and snip a rectangle opening. Once that was complete, I began altering my project with a thick coat of texture. I mixed acylic paint with sand to achieve this effect. I used a vintage white color. I decided to use creams and aquas for this particular color scheme, because it matched an earlier project that I was creating for someone. This project can be found under the blogpost heading, "Got Supplies?" if you are interested. This is a gift for someone and this person requested a decorated clock, so I added a clock to the inside of this new bird "house". I wanted the clock to hang inside its new home, and I needed to have the clock be removable so the battery compartment could be accessed.  I decided to add a Tim Holtz swivel clasp which I attached to a 7 gypsies clip that I had glued at the top of the clock. At the top of the feeder where the lid comes off, was a bar (already built into the feeder) so I glued a small sized clothespin on top of the bar and placed the swivel clasp (with clock attached) inside the indentation of the clothespin....which provided an easy on/off with a pinch of the clothespin.   After this clock idea came to life, I then began decorating with tons of yummy flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts, butterflies, a Prima Resin Fairy and metal lamp post (the lamp post is inside), my signature "X,O" that I love to put on every project, and metal adornments from Bead Landing. Since there was a clock in the house, I decided to add a few Prima metal numbers around the project to further enhance the idea of the clock theme and time. Of course, to achieve a most perfect completion of my project..I added lots of yumminess from The Piece by Piece!! I used the beautiful resin sitting bird in aqua resting on top of the bird nest (from my stash) because every bird "house" needs a bird and some eggs! I also added some beautiful aqua colored candy gems, wheat sprays, rosettes, another resin bird (around the back of the house) and topped it all off with some beautiful venice scallop trim on the roof!  The products used from The Piece by Piece will be under the pictures and remember the direct link to the store is on the sidebar to the right.
