Mixed Media Altered 3-Piece Frame Set (DT Project for Reneabouquets)

For this project I found this great 3 piece sliding frame set at Goodwill. The two frames in front slide open to reveal the larger frame in the back. The minute I saw this frame set, I knew I wanted to turn it into an altered clock! There was just enough room underneath the two sliding frames to house the clock in the larger frame...if I found a shallow enough clock mechanism! I got lucky! I found a small decorative clock at another thrift store that I was able to take apart to use the clock...and it works perfectly in the frame!  For the base of the frame, I used white gesso with a pounce brush to add the overall texture. I heat set it in between coats. I wanted this piece to look shabby chic but have lots of fun eclectic metal elements. I wanted the two outer frames to have depth and almost have a shadow box appearance, so I layered some chipboard strips on the inside frame area (that you can't see). Then when I added the paper and back piece it was not laying up against the frame opening. The larger decorative frame on the left is from Micheals Craft Store and the small shadow box on the right is actually a box that some wooden elements came packed in (by Prima Marketing). On both of these pieces, I used the same technique as with the frame (gesso/pounce brush). For added color and texture on the project, I used Prima Color Bloom spray in Cotton Candy, the beautiful Reneabouquets Glitter Glass (color: Sand) and Prima art basics Texture paste in white crackle with a stencil.    I used a ton of yummy  items from Reneabouquets etsy shop, which will be listed below.
