"2/14"

I wanted to create a 2 page layout that could be displayed in my home that celebrates the anniversary/love and relationship of my husband and I. Totally love the end result! I love to have eclectic shaped pages so that's why I ended up with a heart shape on the left and an fancy oval shape on the right. I also wanted the pages to "fit" the divided areas of the the metal stand.  I found a stand at an antique mall and completely covered the whole thing in texture paint. I mixed black paint and sand to achieve the texture. I used a bunch of yummy Prima goodies on my layouts from their Romance Novel, Engraver, Lyric and Almanac collections. I love to mix and match collections and colors and Prima does a wonderful job with color combinations that makes it easy to accomplish this! For the mixed media aspect of my design, I used several TCW masks and of course, a Prima mask combined with modeling paste. I also used used some stamping as a layering bonus for more visual interest. On the Tim Holtz chipboard wings, I actually used a crackling paste that I applied very thick and heat set...not so that it would crackle, but so that it would appear "cotton" soft with lots of texture. Then I masked over the left wing and stamped over the right wing...I love the end result! I distressed the edges of all the paper pieces as well as sewed around all the edges of the paper, including our photo. To top it all off, I used a white acrylic paint, again mixed with sand, to add texture over the flowers, embellishments and papers! I wanted this texture to match the overall texture of the stand in which both layouts hang from.

Thanks for looking! Hugsies!
