Thought I would alter up a Wooden Desktop Organizer for a swap I'm in! Decided to use the KaiserCraft 75 cents paper line. These colors coordinated with the colors of the room into which this little organizer will be placed. Rustled up quite a few embellishments from the Discount Paper Crafts Esty store. And some flowers, laces, charms from my stash! I began by pre-painting this organizer. I used an off-white acrylic paint mixed with sand to add lots of texture to the project. I also used several different stencils by The Crafter's Workshop and Prima to give it a little edge! I really love the use of the cool aqua colors with creams and whites. Looks really fresh and inviting! It's calling me to add my glue stix right now! But I can't because it's not mine to keep! :) I decided to also add little lace peek-a-boos in several areas by curling back the edges of paper to reveal the lace and background paper (which consists of Glitz "French Kiss" and Prima "Almanac" paperlines) I also wanted to add some hardware with lightbulbs, 7 Gypsies bolts, springs, Tim Holtz gears, white chain and even some wire I cut from a filter I bought at a local store. The wire looks like a large diameter chicken wire. I really enjoyed using this filter because its very pliable to work with, not stiff like real chicken wire. The filter, of course, has cotton on it and I peeled most of it off, but left a little hint of cotton to add softenss to the wire. The large wood word "Imagine" was purchased at a craft store. I used my texture paint to make it pretty. On the "I" was placed a Prima resin birdbath, because it has the shape of an "I" and I thought it would add a little whimsical touch. The bird bath is topped off with a Prima Resin fairy...there, again, playing into the whimsy of the area. I topped that ensemble of with some hugs and kisses (X,O) from the Prima wood Icons! All my paper is sewed around the edges and distressed with the Prima Distress tool. I added a large, beautiful Prima vine that I cut in half to the front of both drawers. The vine actually had peach flowers, but I removed the flowers (to use in a later project), and added some aqua colored flowers by Petaloo and some white ones from "I Am Roses" that I sprayed with a homemade paint/water mixture. Added lots of goodies to the sides of the Organizer as well. The back I left more simple, using only stencils as my designs. You will also notice plenty of butterflies around this project as well, because the person that receives this, happens to love butterflies!! I even added some extra goodies that she can use, such as... a mini chalkboard, a notepad and a heart-shaped clipboard...all matching the organizer of course! Soooo...enough of the words...here's some close-up pics!
