This is a small shadow box measuring 4 5/8 x 3 3/4 x 2 inches. Super cute and super small and a perfect project to complete in a day!! I love these type of projects! Don't get me wrong, there are those projects which takes forever and a month to complete and then there are those that you can sit down and complete in no time at all and have something adorable when you are finished! And this month (and next month) for my guest design team projects for SaCrafters, I have been given FIVE of these type of projects and I am luvin' every minute of it!! For this project I chose to keep the décor minimal so that the focus is centered in the middle of the "clock" area. Using a craft knife, I cut out the original clock hands at the bottom and used them inside the shadow box. Here is an original photo as seen on SaCrafters.com. Notice the hands at the bottom....those are what I removed to use inside...
I just wanted to show that something can always be altered and not use as its original design! I covered the inside and outside of the box with Prima paper from Jodi Lee's collection "Delight". This is a nicely sweet shabby pink design paper. I distressed the edges with the Prima distress tool and sewed around the edges of each of the pieces with my sewing machine. I chose to keep the outer perimeter of the shadow box visible, because I wanted to let the wood blend in with the project. I used the smallest word I had from SaCrafters that says "Hope" so that you could see it just inside the clock area. I placed the wooden clock hands from the box on top of the word. I used a few other pieces from SaCrafters to decorate this piece....those will be listed below the pictures. I used some Prima, Tim Holtz, Bead Landing gears, Wild Orchid Craft flowers and some chain (I needed to see a little bit of movement) on this project as well. I won't go into too much detail, because I will include the Start to finish tutorial on this project below. Mixed Media 6x6 Canvas (DT Project for Reneabouquets)
I have been really wanting to pull out a canvas for some time now (I may do another again real soon!) and decided to work on a 6x6 size using a few different mixed media methods! I first began with a paper transfer method using Prima art basics 3D Matte Gel and some beautiful Marion Smith paper. I love doing this transfer technique because it allows the paper to look as if it is a part of the canvas versus just being glued on top. I did try something slightly different, not exciting, but different. As most of you know, with my projects, I often sew the papers and distress the edges...so I sewed the paper first before I adhered it to the canvas. I wondered how the thread would look once I started removing the top fiber layer of the paper. It appeared as I had expected. Most of the fibers of the paper came off around the thread (with a little work) but a lot of it stayed entwined with the thread...which I liked because it just added more texture! Once I was done removing the outer layer of the paper, while it was still wet, I added a layer of the gel medium over the top. This protects any of the rough edges and seals in the design. I also added some stenciling with The Crafters Workshop "Art Is" design and Ranger Texture Paste. And then....I went to town with all of my layering. I used tons of yummy Prima product, most of which came from Reneabouquets. I will have the list of the product I used below the pics. I used some new flowers in Renea's shop along with a beautiful butterfly design...Tiny Treasures Champagne Dreams...a tone of peach and champagne. I also added one of the bronze shabby chic metal scissors from the shop and added a stunning shade of Reneabouquets glitter glass in the color of Sand around the canvas. I wont give up too much of the process as I will have my YT video below where you can see the entire start to finish process! Mixed Media Shadow Box Clock
This is a guest design team project for Sacrafters.com. I had fun with this shadow box! Of course, it is right up my alley being in the shape of a clock! I had a quick 2 second thought of turning it into a real clock, but I knew that this what most of you would expect from me, so I kept it a regular shadow box! LOL! I wanted to choose colors that would accent the natural beauty of the raw wood, so I pulled out some old Prima paper, Romantique, to use for the inside and very back. I also used Prima flowers and butterfly from the Something Blue, Time Travelers Memories and Engraver collections. Believe it or not, these collections meshed very well together! Since this was a "clock" in design, I wanted to have some gears in the design....so I used the gears from Bead Landing. I also used some Prima Resin pieces (wings and ampersand symbol) a Prima light bulb and clock face, and the new mixed media product by Prima Art Basics: Texture paste in White Sand (which dried kind of clear and I used Lindy's Stamp Gang in Dark Chocolate Truffle misted over the top), glass beads with 3D Matte Gel. Besides the wood shadow box, from SaCrafters, I also used some other wood elements from the shop (the words "imagine", "live" and the small "wish" hanging from the Tim Holtz ornate metal frame) I wanted to have a little bit of movement on the project, so I added some chain hanging at the bottom of the "imagine" word. I thought all these elements together gave me the vintage romance feel that I was going for. To see other products from SaCrafters, click the link to the right on my sidebar....and happy shopping! Mixed Media Altered 3-Piece Frame Set (DT Project for Reneabouquets)
For this project I found this great 3 piece sliding frame set at Goodwill. The two frames in front slide open to reveal the larger frame in the back. The minute I saw this frame set, I knew I wanted to turn it into an altered clock! There was just enough room underneath the two sliding frames to house the clock in the larger frame...if I found a shallow enough clock mechanism! I got lucky! I found a small decorative clock at another thrift store that I was able to take apart to use the clock...and it works perfectly in the frame! For the base of the frame, I used white gesso with a pounce brush to add the overall texture. I heat set it in between coats. I wanted this piece to look shabby chic but have lots of fun eclectic metal elements. I wanted the two outer frames to have depth and almost have a shadow box appearance, so I layered some chipboard strips on the inside frame area (that you can't see). Then when I added the paper and back piece it was not laying up against the frame opening. The larger decorative frame on the left is from Micheals Craft Store and the small shadow box on the right is actually a box that some wooden elements came packed in (by Prima Marketing). On both of these pieces, I used the same technique as with the frame (gesso/pounce brush). For added color and texture on the project, I used Prima Color Bloom spray in Cotton Candy, the beautiful Reneabouquets Glitter Glass (color: Sand) and Prima art basics Texture paste in white crackle with a stencil. I used a ton of yummy items from Reneabouquets etsy shop, which will be listed below. Here are the pictures:

Shabby Chic Miniature Chair (DT Project for Reneabouquets)
For this project, I was at Goodwill and found this great looking miniature wooden chair with a drawer in the front. I grabbed it quick and placed it gently in my cart! I wanted to turn this chair into a useable piece of storage that would look great sitting on a shelf as a piece of home décor. I knew right away that I would turn this into a shabby chic creation. It was originally in a cream color, but I used a Martha Stewart matte chalk paint in white and repainted it. (I also used this paint to repaint some of the pieces in this creation, such as a Resin frame and cameo) I then sanded all the edges to give it a worn, weathered look. In pursuing ideas for this shabby venture, I turned to Pinterest for ideas. When I did a search for shabby chic crafts, a picture popped up (I'm sure everyone has seen this picture or something like it, if you have every done a search as I did)...it was a picture of a shelf with a bunch of empty shabby chic frames in all shapes and sizes with a book laying next to them and a pot of flowers. On a personal note, I've always wanted to do this in my house, but I've only collected a few frames and they are being stored in a box in the attic and they will probably stay there, 'cuz I bet I never get around to this idea! LOL! Anyhoo, as I'm looking at this picture, I look down at the chair and some of the stuff that came from Reneabouquets Etsy shop, one of which was a package of the Prima resin oval frames and....lightbulb!!...I decided I would create my "shelf of frames" on this chair! I pulled out other Prima resin frames that I had in my stash and some miniature craft frames from Micheals and designed my masterpiece! I had to add a touch of romance to the "shelf" because of the products I received in this months kit....they screamed romance! I layered the frames in a haphazard fashion on the chair, added some of my favorite things, like the Prima Clock face, Prima Clock hands and Prima resin bird! I also added a jar filled with the beautiful glitter glass from Renea's shop (that glitter is such a beautiful shade of light vintage pink, even though the title of the color is "Sand" and I couldn't bear to do anything but put it in the tiny jar so that it could be stared at! LOL!) , some descriptive wooden words, a crochet doily that I crocheted myself and some gorgeous vintage lace from Renea's shop! I even created my own mini Romeo and Juliet book to add a couple of music scrolls and a mini Eiffel Tower charm upon. I love the touch of another jar that accidentally "fell over" and the pearls spilled out! The beautiful Cameo, Ivory Chiffon flower, along with the tiny resin flower laying on the metal key, the tiny spoon acting as a drawer pull on the front of the drawer, and the lace heart applique laying atop the wooden heart at the very back of the chair, all came from Renea's shop as well! The exquisite butterflies (handmade by Renea) finish off the ensemble! The exact products I used are listed below the pics....which you are about to see next!

Mixed Media Floating Wall Frame (DT Project for Reneabouquets)
I decided to create a page layout on a frame! Possibly nothing genius about the process, except that I wanted the mixed media background to appear to be "watermarked" or "opaque" looking and I wanted it also to be "floating" so that the entire combination would be soft and romantic! For this look, I chose to purchase a floating frame from Walmart. I used paper from the Tim Holtz collection, French Industrial. A beautiful set of papers! I slid this paper, after sewing the perimeter, in between the glass (as opposed to on top of the glass) so that it would have that floating look I was going for. On top of the glass, I used a Prima crackle stencil with Ranger Texture Paste, Prima Color Bloom spray in Pearl White, Mister Huey's Opaque White mist, some Multi Medium paste with Reneabouquets Glitter Glass in Diamond. Everything but the Mister Huey's Spray and Multi Medium came from Reneabouquets shop. The sprays really gave me the watermark/opaque look that I was trying to achieve and the glitter glass added the beautiful shimmery softness. Once this look was all achieved, I began simply embellishing on the top of the glass with my photo, Wild Orchid Craft and Prima flowers, Prima products, along with a vintage lace, a beautiful handmade butterfly and a dragonfly from Reneabouquets shop. I will list the exact product I used from Reaneabouquets below the photos! To get to Reneabouquets shop, simply click on the shop link to the right on my sidebar! Here's the photos:

Shabby Chic Wall Art (DT Project for ReneaBouquets)
This time around I decided to use an outer frame from a clock to make a beautiful piece of wall art. Of course, I removed the clock mechanism for this project. I used acrylic paint mixed with sand to texture the outside of the frame. For the inside, I used the Authentique and Carta Bella collections for my paper lines. I wanted a project with the colors of aquas and whites so that it would be both shabby and soft. I used a brick mask and Ranger Texture paste (from ReneaBouquets) on the background. While the texture paste was still wet, I added some beautiful ReneaBouquets Chunky Glitter Glass in Diamond to the top of the paste. I then added some homemade shimmer mist using Perfect Pearls Mint shade (which really looks aqua, so it was perfect) to allow the Glitter Glass to stand out just a bit. Then I just began layering with beautiful products from Renea's Shop such as Victorian Days Lace, the exquisite double layer Vintage Romance Butterfly and tons of Prima product. This was a simple project to create, but I think it will look stunning amongst home décor! I will list the products I used from Renea's shop below the pictures.
