A Place In Time-DT project for The Piece by Piece

This month I decided to alter a bird feeder. I saw this bird feeder in a local store and new that I could do something cool with it! I wanted to turn it into a little bird "house".  Since it only opened from the top by lifting the lid off, I decided to use some wire cutters and snip a rectangle opening. Once that was complete, I began altering my project with a thick coat of texture. I mixed acylic paint with sand to achieve this effect. I used a vintage white color. I decided to use creams and aquas for this particular color scheme, because it matched an earlier project that I was creating for someone. This project can be found under the blogpost heading, "Got Supplies?" if you are interested. This is a gift for someone and this person requested a decorated clock, so I added a clock to the inside of this new bird "house". I wanted the clock to hang inside its new home, and I needed to have the clock be removable so the battery compartment could be accessed.  I decided to add a Tim Holtz swivel clasp which I attached to a 7 gypsies clip that I had glued at the top of the clock. At the top of the feeder where the lid comes off, was a bar (already built into the feeder) so I glued a small sized clothespin on top of the bar and placed the swivel clasp (with clock attached) inside the indentation of the clothespin....which provided an easy on/off with a pinch of the clothespin.   After this clock idea came to life, I then began decorating with tons of yummy flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts, butterflies, a Prima Resin Fairy and metal lamp post (the lamp post is inside), my signature "X,O" that I love to put on every project, and metal adornments from Bead Landing. Since there was a clock in the house, I decided to add a few Prima metal numbers around the project to further enhance the idea of the clock theme and time. Of course, to achieve a most perfect completion of my project..I added lots of yumminess from The Piece by Piece!! I used the beautiful resin sitting bird in aqua resting on top of the bird nest (from my stash) because every bird "house" needs a bird and some eggs! I also added some beautiful aqua colored candy gems, wheat sprays, rosettes, another resin bird (around the back of the house) and topped it all off with some beautiful venice scallop trim on the roof!  The products used from The Piece by Piece will be under the pictures and remember the direct link to the store is on the sidebar to the right. Just click on the picture! Thanks for stopping by!!

Shabby Chic Chalkboard (Guest DT project for Tresors de Luxe)

This month I decided to finally get a project completed that I have been wanting to accomplish for over a year!  It was one of those projects that I knew I would get around to someday. Well, "someday" is finally here! I picked up this chalkboard at a sale for $2.00! it measures about 27 inches tall and about 13 inches wide. I decided to go with one of my favorite paperlines by Pink Paislee called London Market. I added a little bit of accent paper using the Teresa Collins Vintage Finds paper line. For texturing the entire board, I used an acrylic paint/sand combo. I then went to town using most of my favorite embellishments by Prima, Time Holtz, Farmhouse and FabScraps. Paper flowers by Wild Orchid Crafts, wooden words, X & O letters, acrylic butterflies, and a pre-made wooden fence also add a little chic to my shabby! On the wooden words and letters, I first used a layer of Gesso, added some Tim Holtz crackle paint, then on the wooden words only, stamped over the top with a script stamp. In all my projects I  like to add some fun details so this particular project contains a lightbulb, spring coils, a vintage cabinet handle, and even cheesecloth!  I also added finishing touches to the tops of all the embellishments with the acrylic/sand texture paint to add even more dimension!! Of course, none of this would be half as beautiful if I didnt have the yummy goodness from Tresors de Luxe Etsy Shop to bring it all together. I was honored to use some beautiful lace and flowers from the shop. The items numbers will be below the pictures and the link to the shop is to the right on my sidebar!
Here are the pics and the You Tube video for a much closer look at the details!

The beautiful flowers I used from Tresors de Luxe are the Tea Green Velvet and Rhinestone flowers (one of which, can be seen near the angel in this picture) Item Number: FL-004 and the Rhinestone Centered Ivory Organza flower
(located at the bottom of this photo) Item Number: FL-037

At the lower right edge of this photo (above the "Live" word) is an Ivory Venice Bridal Embroidered Guipire Lace with Tear Drop Edging. I actually was able to cut this lace into 3 separate beautiful trims and use it throughout the project! The piece shown here is the bottom edge of the lace. Item Number: LA-021 Underneath the word "live", I was so excited to be able to use this (6 row) Ivory Cotton Bridal Embroidered Lace!! Beautiful!! Item Number: LA-036

In this picture you will notice a jar of wooden hearts spilling out...I wrapped a cute floral trim around the jar. This is the top portion of the Ivory Venice Bridal Embroidered Guipire Lace with Tear Drop Edging that I cut apart. So, out of 1 yard of lace, I was able to get 3 separate designs of cute trim to use all around my project!

On this lower section, I used 2 more of the Tea Green Velvet and Rhinestone flowers and a stunning Venice Lace Heart Trim! Item Number: LA-004     Above the white bow on the lower right, you can see the middle portion of the lace (Ivory Venice Bridal Embroidered Guipire Lace with Tear Drop Edging) that I cut apart (Item Number: LA-021) It's peeking out! This portion of the lace has a swirl-type design and adds a soft, whimsical touch!

"Got Supplies?" DT project for Discount Paper Crafts

Thought I would alter up a Wooden Desktop Organizer for a swap I'm in! Decided to use the KaiserCraft 75 cents paper line. These colors coordinated with the colors of the room into which this little organizer will be placed. Rustled up quite a few embellishments from the Discount Paper Crafts Esty store. And some flowers, laces, charms from my stash! I began by pre-painting this organizer. I used an off-white acrylic paint mixed with sand to add lots of texture to the project. I also used several different stencils by The Crafter's Workshop and Prima to give it a little edge! I really love the use of the cool aqua colors with creams and whites. Looks really fresh and inviting! It's calling me to add my glue stix right now! But I can't because it's not mine to keep! :) I decided to also add little lace peek-a-boos in several areas by curling back the edges of paper to reveal the lace and background paper (which consists of Glitz "French Kiss" and Prima "Almanac" paperlines) I also wanted to add some hardware with lightbulbs, 7 Gypsies bolts, springs, Tim Holtz gears, white chain and even some wire I cut from a filter I bought at a local store. The wire looks like a large diameter chicken wire. I really enjoyed using this filter because its very pliable to work with, not stiff like real chicken wire. The filter, of course, has cotton on it and I peeled most of it off, but left a little hint of cotton to add softenss to the wire. The large wood word "Imagine" was purchased at a craft store. I used my texture paint to make it pretty. On the "I" was placed a Prima resin birdbath, because it has the shape of an "I" and I thought it would add a little whimsical touch. The bird bath is topped off with a Prima Resin fairy...there, again, playing into the whimsy of the area. I topped that ensemble of with some hugs and kisses (X,O) from the Prima wood Icons!  All my paper is sewed around the edges and distressed with the Prima Distress tool. I added a large, beautiful Prima vine that I cut in half to the front of both drawers. The vine actually had peach flowers, but I removed the flowers (to use in a later project), and added some aqua colored flowers by Petaloo and some white ones from "I Am Roses" that I sprayed with a homemade paint/water mixture. Added lots of goodies to the sides of the Organizer as well. The back I left more simple, using only stencils as my designs. You will also notice plenty of butterflies around this project as well, because the person that receives this, happens to love butterflies!!  I even added some extra goodies that she can use, such as... a mini chalkboard, a notepad and a heart-shaped clipboard...all matching the organizer of course! Soooo...enough of the words...here's some close-up pics!

Sweet lil' Angel!

Here's my DT project for The Piece by Piece! I altered this fun little birdcage as a little bonus for one of my swaps! I made this in a grunge style because this is one of the styles this lady loves! I still tried to make it sweet, though! I made this to celebrate her happy news! I used beautiful products from The Piece by Piece...although a lot of the laces are hard to see because I rolled most of them up into flowers and tucked them into all around! I used Prima product from the Engraver line and also some Prima flowers, resin and metal pieces. I even tucked in a tiny Tim Holtz Wishbone...do you see it? My textured paint really helped grunge this all up! I will also include the vid here because it gives a better look-see into all the details! The links to the products I used from Beverly's Etsy store will be below the pictures and the store link is to the right on my sidebar! I chose to add some color blue to signify which happy news my friend received! I made the (heart piece) removable so that it can be tucked into the birdcage in a front or farther back position...althugh I like the farther back position, because it allows you to see all the yumminess inside the cage!

A "Charm"-ing assembly!

So... I  did a few Charm assemblies for a fun little swap with a friend! We wanted to create some cute dangling charms from inspiration by the Articake line and the Indstrial Chic line! My charms are no where near those lines, but I got lots of ideas to enhance my own creations! Here's the couple of pics I took!

I tried to make them very versatile--not too much color and not so many charms hanging that you couldn't see them all! I wanted my friend to be able to use them on almost any project.  These are my first assemblies! Whatcha think?

Hugsies!!

Hugs and Kisses for all TIME.

Design Team Project for Discount Paper Crafts!

Yes, indeed! You guessed it by the title! It's another Clock!!! I can't help it! Clocks are a weakness! They tell the tale of every minute of life that we are blessed with and it's a favorite subject that I love to craft about!  This particular project was created for a wonderful, sweet friend of mine, Miranda! Her YT name: MsLiberty25.  When I saw this picture of her and her boyfriend, I knew that it had to have a sweet, grungy, shabbychic masterpiece created around it!  And I think that all the yummy products from Discount Paper Crafts helped me to achieve what I was creating for! I love to add an "x,o" somewhere on each of my projects, and as you will notice, the clock IS the "x,o"! I purchased the wooden "x" from a craft store and the "o" is actually a candle holder that I purchased from a local store. I nailed the 2 pieces together and so became the foundation for this clock. I added a TON of texture using The Prima Distress tool, Prima and The Crafter's Workshops Stencils, a script stamp by BoBunny and acrylic paint mixed with sand to shabby everything up! You can also visit my YT channel for exact details of this creation by clicking on my YT button at the right on my sidebar. Look for the video with the exact same title as this blog entry! While you are there, you are certainly welcome to watch any of my other videos...go ahead...I think you'll like them! Enough rambling... Here's the pics, followed by the links to all the products I used from Cathie's store.  If you want to bypass the individual links and go straight for the homepage of the store, just click on the Discount Paper Crafts store link at the sidebar on the right!
